Concrete & Deck Waterproofing
Polyurea is being recognised internationally as the ultimate coating system for roofs, basements, bunds, steels, tank linings and other applications.
The durability and flexibility of MacLennan's Polyprufe coatings mean that it can be used in some of the harshest conditions in the world.
This includes holds of ships and barges, aircraft carrier decks, and North sea oil rigs/platforms for corrosion protection, pipework protection, and asbestos encapsulation.
So with that sort of robustness and durability why would you allow anything less on your concrete deck or roof.
Polyprufe is the MacLennan range of Polyurea deck waterproofing systems.
The Polyurea system has been developed over the last 20 years for use in the waterproofing industry for concrete decks, reservoir roofs, bunds, top of basement wall detailing green roofs as well as lorry beds, ships hulls and bridges. The system allows us to detail and specify all forms of deck and roof contracts, and supply guaranteed solutions that comply with all codes of practice and British Standards.
We provide long-term, insured guarantees and product warranties that cover labour and materials. We also provide a full design and technical back-up service.
- Polyprufe is the system chosen by NHBC to remedy failed waterproofing on large concrete decks.
- Polyprufe is the go to roof system for many market leading Architects, developers and contractors.
Polyprufe is fast curing, which allows decks to be back in use within hours.

It creates a high quality, waterproof elastic sprayed membrane which has many advantages over traditional waterproofing systems as well as being cost-effective when compared to conventional solvent-based products.
Polyprufe is hot spray applied by MacLennan through a Plural Component Proportioning system.
Once the Polyprufe coating has been sprayed, it can take foot traffic after 10 seconds and light vehicular traffic after a few hours.
Polyprufe coatings and linings are a Polyurea based, high end, seamless, elastomeric, which has exceptional mechanical properties and chemical resistance and durability.
We also have hand applied systems for smaller decks and roofs. or inaccessible decks and roofs.
We specialise in:
- Podium deck
- Buried roofs
- External Type A waterproofing
- Water retaining pond linings and other uses
- Internal tank lining and protection
- Chemical resistant coatings for tank and bund linings
- Retention pond lining
- Encapsulation of hazardous materials such as asbestos
- Reservoir internal and external linings and coatings

Compare Polyprufe
Polyurea is closely related to polyurethane. Both are two-component systems made with Isocyanate-based materials. The first component in polyurethane is polyol resin and the other is Polyurea which is a polyether amine. In terms of performance, conventional polyurethane requires a catalyst which is sensitive to temperature and moisture. Low temperatures can slow the reaction time and moisture can interfere with the reaction causing blistering and other negative effects.
Polyurea on the other hand does not require a catalyst. Reactivity for these coatings is fast, typically 3-10 seconds. Polyurea can be sprayed at -20 but where primers are required, they need a temperature of 5 degrees.
