Vault Waterproofing / Hampshire
Introduction
Maclennan Vault Waterproofing was the preferred method to be installed for this cellar conversion which was to be used as a habitable area, therefore it required grade 3 waterproofing. MacLennan used our cavity drain membrane system because it adheres to BS8102 standards and provides exceptional waterproofing to a basement area that may otherwise be unusable. This large country home in an idyllic Hampshire village had a vaulted cellar which needed to be meticulously waterproofed, as it was being renovated in order to provide extra, usable living space. The MacLennan cavity drain system was employed as it provides exceptional waterproofing for any sub ground structure, and ensures that the structure is protected should any unforeseen water event, such as localised flooding, occur. Any project below ground should always have full rather than partial waterproofing, even without historic flooding.
Methodology
Prior to MacLennan arrival on site, the main contractor ensured the area was prepared and ready for us to install the MacLennan cavity drain system. Once the area was ready, MacLennan’s expert operatives attended the site and fitted the MacLennan cavity drain system, which includes membranes to walls, floor and ceiling, along with a pump and sump system, also ensuring installation of inspection ports. Once installation was complete, a variety of finishes could be applied for decoration without any negative effect to the waterproofing properties.
