Case Study / Waterproofing
Large Retail Outlet, Swindon
Waterproofing a large clothing store without disruption to business
A large International Retail Outlet in the centre of Swindon in Wiltshire had an issue with leaking water. It was seeping into the floor and changing rooms of the very large basement which was the clothing department.
Local specialist waterproofing company MacLennan were engaged by a firm of consultants acting on behalf of the Outlet. A design and specification was required and a very quick solution to the problem.
MacLennan waterproofing specialists surveyed the property and produced a design, specification and fast track programme for the installation of a full waterproofing and water management system for the whole basement area.
The main contractor carried out preparation and enabling works which included removal of all finishes and floors, elevators, and lifts.
MacLennan resin injection teams worked shifts until the water was stopped. Then the MacLennan installation team installed a full cavity drain system and multiple sump and pumps systems with control panels and Battery backups and alarms. Further works were carried out to waterproof manholes over the basement retail floor.
All of the work was carried out extremely quickly to a very demanding programme so as the complete refitting of the outlet could be carried out to get the shop back to its full trading capacity.
All of the work was carried out while the first floor continued trading with no disruption.
All leaks were sealed by Resin injection, a full cavity drain water management system was installed.
All work was handed over to the clients on schedule and within the agreed costs.
