Basement Conversion Dorset
Introduction
Maclennan Waterproofing were contacted to plan and design the conversion of a large basement under a luxury property in Poole a flushing tourist resort, which attracts visitors with its large natural harbour, and history, the Lighthouse arts centre and Blue Flag beaches Dorset. The water ingress was bought about by a stream running through the site to the sea. With large amounts of rain water swelling the stream from time to time it was of the utmost urgency to address the penetrating water. Maclennan Waterproofing supplied the client with a comprehensive report and drawings after visiting the site to show exactly what was required to full fill this Basement Conversion.
Methodology
The Basement Conversion waterproofing was designed by Maclennan and covered by Maclennan PI and Products Insurance. To comply with BS 8102 the ground had to be drained by means of land drainage.
The outside of the building was protected with Grace Procure and Maclennan Geo Drain installed over the walls and draining to land drains at the toe of the footing. The inside was lined with Maclennan System 500 cavity drain membrane on the walls and MS 20 cavity drain membrane on the floors.
Drainage channels were installed around the wall to floor joins to large sumps and pumps installed by the clients engineers.
Once the membrane had been installed on the floor and walls, the client then had a choice of how they wanted it finished, whether a standard screeded floor and dry lined walls to under floor heating and fancy marble faced block-work.
Result
All work was completed on time and with in budget. The installation was guaranteed by the GPI Insurance for a period of 10 years.PRODUCT DATA SHEETS
